I have a strong background in education, having worked full-time as a teaching assistant in an all-boys school for 6 months, gaining experience across all subjects in the GCSE curriculum. The time I spent at William Ellis developed my skills in breaking down complex concepts into an easy and understandable manner, as well as taking on key pastoral responsibilities. Furthermore, working in the SEN department gave me an appreciation for diverse learning styles and adapting the approach to teaching depending on the students needs and strengths.
I am currently in my second year studying history and economics after doing Maths, History and Geography for my A levels. I ran a maths mentoring programme in my local state primary for two years with 4 other students, as well as travelling to Thailand to teach English with Jack. In my eyes it has definitely conveyed how much of a difference even a little bit of encouragement and help can make. I also strongly believe having ADHD has helped me understand the importance of a personalised learning experience whether that be different paces or methods of information delivery which a busy classroom can not provide.
"Great company. We have Joe who tutors my daughter for GCSE maths. She has really struggled to understand the methods of her school teacher but Joe is able to explain concepts to her in a way that she can understand. Joe is encouraging and patient and after only three sessions, my daughter's confidence with maths is improving. I would definitely recommend."
